MEPCO Boosts Power Supply with Transformer Upgrades Across Region
In an important initiative to improve electricity services, the Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has successfully upgraded 264 distribution transformers throughout its operational areas. This upgrade was specifically aimed at resolving consumer complaints regarding low voltage and frequent power tripping, particularly during summer.
MEPCO representatives say the upgraded transformers span several regions, including Multan, D.G. Khan, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, and Khanewal. These enhancements were carried out to boost the transformers’ capacity, ensuring more reliable power delivery to consumers.
Over three months in 2024, MEPCO invested approximately Rs. 148 million into these transformer upgrade projects. In Multan alone, 45 transformers were upgraded for Rs. 33 million, while D.G. Khan upgraded 21 transformers for Rs. 5.3 million between July and September 2024.
Vehari saw the improvement of 18 transformers, costing Rs. 17 million, and Bahawalpur led the efforts with 78 transformers upgraded for Rs. 35 million.
Additionally, 52 transformers in Muzaffargarh, 12 in Sahiwal, 16 in Bahawalnagar, and 22 in Khanewal were also enhanced.
These projects aim to significantly improve the quality of electricity supply across MEPCO’s region, addressing longstanding issues and providing better service to consumers.
